Hilliard Gardening Club Project
The Gardening Club of Hilliard worked jointly with Nassau County representatives to provide the
necessary materials to refurbish the planting bed directly in front of the Hilliard Library. The County provided funding for shrubbery and mulch while the club donated approximately 50 Liriope and two good sized Sago palms. Nine Club members volunteered a total of 14 hours of
gardening labor to get the job done. The results are dramatic! Plans are already underway for another joint project at the library in January 2011. The Gardening Club is greatly
appreciative of the support they have received from Nassau County, the Town of Hilliard and the public. The club meets at the Bethany Episcopal Church in Hilliard the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. Any one interested in increasing their gardening knowledge and promoting civic beauty is welcome to attend. For more information about the club call Cindy Steighner at 845-7649. Make sure you come by our booth at the fair. We will have an exhibition booth staffed with enthusiastic gardeners anxious to speak on the Club’s behalf.
