GCOH included in the Hilliard Town Council Article on the Westside Journal front page – September 9, 2010
Cindy Steighner President of the Gardening Club of Hilliard was on hand to update the council on the club’s first official meeting, their mission statement and goals. The club will hold their meeting the second Tuesday of each month. This month it will be Tuesday, September 14 at 6 p.m. at Bethany Episcopal Church. The club already has 15 members and is looking for more. Their first project was a clean-up at the Hilliard Y. The group volunteered 30 man hours of labor and removed over one ton of yard debris from the area. They plan another Y clean-up for September 11. The club has already discussed plans to clean up the planting beds of the Hilliard Library.

Newly formed Gardening Club of Hilliard provides community service
by Linda Morris
A “grassroots” effort by three friends getting together to provide an outlet for a common interest is serving a huge need within our community. Recently, the Gardening Club of
Hilliard spent a Saturday working to maintain and beautify the flower beds and shrubbery surrounding the Hilliard YMCA, located at 37516 Oxford Street in Hilliard. This month is a
special emphasis by the YMCA to increase membership. The Gardening Club members realize a strong visually pleasant experience will help to persuade an individual to join any organization.
Thus, the Gardening Club volunteered to share their talent and hard work on beautifying the exterior of the Y building and grounds. Both the Hilliard YMCA and the Gardening Club of Hilliard invite your membership. Information for membership for the Hilliard Y may be gained by calling 845-2733, or visiting the website at: www.firstcoastY.org and select Find My Y. Information for membership in The Gardening Club of Hilliard may be found by calling Cindy Steighner at 845-7649. The community of Hilliard extends our gratitude to both these invaluable organizations within our town.
