On April 21, 2011 The Town of Hilliard's Mayor, David Buchanan proudly awarded to the Gardening Club of Hilliard the Hilliard Volunteer of the Year Plaque at the Nassau County Volunteer Awards Luncheon. The Gardening Club of Hilliard has dedicated volunteers that work diligently on beautifying the Town and we would like to say “Thank You” for all that you do!

Hilliard Gardening Club Project
The Gardening Club of Hilliard worked jointly with Nassau County representatives to provide the
necessary materials to refurbish the planting bed directly in front of the Hilliard Library. The County provided funding for shrubbery and mulch while the club donated approximately 50 Liriope and two good sized Sago palms. Nine Club members volunteered a total of 14 hours of

Wow! We have had a busy time since our last meeting. Eight club members volunteered 30 man hours of labor at Phase 1 of the Y Clean-up on August 28. Together we removed over a ton of yard debris from the front beds of the Y and spread 70 bags of mulch. The Y looks great! We are scheduled to go back September 11 for Phase 2 of the Clean-up. We will be working on the side of the Y and in the grounds surrounding the park area.
